Life as it is Now

Life is good these days. I have another blog that has stories from my past. It didn't seem appropriate to post the day to day events in my life there.

Hmmm... What about me is the most interesting? I am over 50, work a full time job that I love. I have 2 sons and 7 grandchildren. Three of my 5 sisters live in the same area I do - so we see each other a lot. I spend weekends with my nieces - spinning on our spinning wheels or going to guild meetings. I am in a committed relationship that works. We have 2 dogs and 3 cats and live in a little neighborhood outside the Phoenix metro area.

two new kittens

The dogs found two more kittens in the back yard this weekend. Well they found 3, but one was already dead.

I need to organize the neighbors to neuter these wild cats.

This set of kittens is a lot younger than the last one and I am feeding them baby milk along with the canned food.

I am hoping that someone else will take the raising of them. Posted by Picasa

styles change

Here are mom and Melody last weekend. I love this look on Mel. Every one else thought it was just weird, but in it's own teenager way - I think it's very stylish..... Posted by Picasa

Summer in the summer

Look at this little darling. She comes over every weekend and is just about the cutest little girl since Maegan was this age.

She comes running into the house saying "I'm home" then demands the Sunshine song. I have to sing "You are my Sunshine" to her at least twice during every visit. Sometimes more often - depends if she takes a nap or not. When her mommy and daddy lived with us, it became a ritual between her and I. Posted by Picasa

Catching up.

Well, lots going on. Spending a lot of time on my fibery pursuits. Two of the kittens have found homes - only one to go. Patrick's release date was changed from the 21st to the 30th. I have taken all of next week off in order to be here and relaxed when he first gets out.

I heard from Bill, he is home and doing well. He still gets worn out pretty easily but he is making progress.

Raining like crazy today - I have to go into work early and need to stop for gas on the way. Oh well.

Roy will be 30 years old this week. Hard to believe that my youngest son is 30. I don't feel old enough to have sons that are 30 & 34.

Can't see

Ok, I don't know how - probably dang cats.... But my glasses have gone missing. I am compulsive about them as I cannot see anything. I wear them every minute my eyes are open. I only take them off when I lay down to sleep or wash my hair. They ALWAYS go right on the nightstand where I can lay my hands on them without being able to see them.

But this morning they are gone. Not on the nightstand, not on the floor around the night stand, not under the bed as far as I can feel.......

I woke DeVia up to look for them for me, but she did not find them either.

I was able to find my old glasses - from 2 years ago, but they will not work for long as I can already feel a headache coming on.

It is such a helpless feeling for me - I truly cannot see to do anything without them. I even put them on when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom in the dark.

Heavy sigh, gonna have to tear the bedroom apart this weekend and see what piece of furniture the cats hide them under.

Kitten update

I have 3 kittens that our dogs trapped in the back yard. They were about 4-5 weeks old and I did not want them growing up to be another set of feral cats that run the back fences around here. We already have 3 of them that live in the neighbors yard.

So, two of them have tamed down very nicely, one is still very withdrawn. Yesterday I was petting the withdrawn one (white blaze on face) and the male with the white paw started rubbing on me asking to be petted and purring. First time any of them have come up and asked for attention.

The two of them should be ready for their new homes very soon. We may end up keeping the white blaze one - hard to adopt out a cat that doesn't want to be around people. He/she may just end up being our invisible cat.

We'll see how it turns out. I really don't want another cat - but accept my responsibility to this one.

Flakey skin

Ok, that small sunburn I got on the San Diego Trip?

Yeah, now my shoulders and arms are peeling like I don't know what. I wish it was like a snake shedding - then it would all just fall off at once.

As it is, it's just really flakey and yeuchy all down my arms. I have been wearing shirts with sleeves this week to avoid anyone seeing it.

This is the worst peeling I have done since the great all over sunburn debacle of my late 20's. That's a great story, but I don't think I will tell it right now.

If anyone really wants to hear it, let me know and I will write it down.

Water falling from the sky for free

I just posted about how danged hot it is and now it's raining.

My sissy bulldog won't go outside in the rain. She will hold it until it stops raining - just doesn't like it. I try and coax her by standing in the rain with her and she just looks at me like I am some nut standing in the rain. Which I guess I am.

I love water that just falls from the sky. I wish I lived somewhere it happened more frequently.

Too dammed hot, iced coffee, a butterfly and other stuff

It's 6 am and already 90 degrees outside.

I made a pot of coffee Tuesday morning and then forgot to drink any of it, so I poured it into a pitcher and put it in the frig.

mmmmmm, iced coffee without the ice.

The drawback to this is that it's very yummy with the new vanilla chai creamer and I just suck it down like a glass of milk. Then I fill it up again - whoa - now I spend the day way more buzzed than normal.

Not that I need coffee to have ADD issues. I say (ony half jokingly) that my ADD and OCD struggle constantly for control - oh look a butterfly....

That's the new term the kids started using on the San Diego trip to let me know that I changed the subject in the middle of a sentence again. They got a big kick out of it. I told a friend at work about the kids doing it and she's doing it now too.

It was funny for a while - ok it's still funny - but it has really made it clear to me that I need to be a little more focused once in a while.

With this much coffee buzzing around in my system, there's no telling what will come out of my mouth - or in what order.
